Labor Day Weekend, Hard to Believe
Back in the day, Labor Day Weekend typically meant the end of summer back when
all of our schools started the Tuesday following the Monday holiday. Now schools
seem to start in August, September and for a while my kids were in year round
school. However, to me this is traditionally the end of summer vacation and we
start looking forward to Fall.
Had a great afternoon with my mom, including spa pedicures and lunch at Subway.
My toes are looking pretty cute for Las Vegas.
Sorry about missing a couple of issues and we are planning to get right back
on track. Lots has happened and is going to happen so let's catch up.
1. Facebook determined I was sending out too many friend
requests and permanently disabled my account. And I am missing
my peeps. I have created a new page and you can find me by
searching judi@judifinneran.com in the search bar and would
love to have you send me a new friend request. Feel lost
without being able to see how everyone is doing. This also
removed me as the admin and denied access to me to many of
my pages including 100 Pound Countdown, My Team Beachbody
Network Marketing Business, and Summer P90X Challenge. Some
of these I will be recreating under new and updated names
so stand by for updates.
2. This coming weekend September 10-12th, Kevin and I are
headed to Viva Las Vegas for a Beachbody Summer of Success
Tour and would love to connect with you there. Will be holding
a get together both Saturday evening and Sunday morning and
you and your guests are invited to join us. This will be
an informal gathering to answer questions about Beachbody
and share what we have to offer. Would love to meet all of
my Las Vegas Area Customers while in town. Email me at judi@shakethefatoff.com with Las Vegas in the subject line and I will send you all
of the meeting details.
3. As our Summer of P90X Challenge winds down, I want to
congratulate all our wonderful participants. Since I can't
go to the page, let me congratulate you here and say BRAVO.
Beginning September 22, I will be kicking off the Fall
P90X Challenge and invite you summer folks to move
on over and everyone else to join us. Getting started in
the fall means
you will be looking good for the holidays and not waking
up on January 1st making yet another resolution. Click
on the above link to join this new challenge.
4. If you're local to North County San Diego, we are having
an event in Carlsbad on Tuesday, Calling All Surfers. One
of the coaches on our team, Julio is a professional surfer
and wants to spread the word about spending more time in
the water surfing and less time behind a desk at a boring
job. All non-surfers are welcome to attend and could just
as easily be named Calling all Golfers, Campers, Hikers,
Tennis Players, Skiers etc. This meeting is for anyone wanting
to create a part time residual income stream getting healthy.
Email judi@shakethefatoff.com to RSVP and I will send you
the address.
5. Getting closer to kicking off the 100 Pound Countdown
and will also be sharing more about that soon. Add me as
a friend on my new Facebook Page and watch for the details.
Thanks to all my wonderful customers who helped me qualify
for the Leadership Event in Dallas next month and will be
holding meetings there too.
As we continue our journey to creating a lasting health
in our lives remember it is about the journey and is not
a
race.
This wonderful quote I found says it much better than I
can:
“What comes first, the
compass or the clock? Before one can truly manage time
(the clock), it is important
to know
where you are going, what your priorities and goals are, in which
direction you are headed (the compass). Where you are headed
is more important than how fast you are going. Rather than
always focusing on what's urgent, learn to focus on what
is really important.”
Helping REshape the World,
~Judi

What
is Tempeh?
Tempeh is a fermented food made by the controlled fermentation
of cooked soybeans with a Rhizopus mold (tempeh starter).
The tempeh fermentation by the Rhizopus mold binds the
soybeans into a compact white cake. Tempeh has been a favorite
food and staple source of protein in Indonesia for several
hundred years.
But tempeh is now rapidly becoming more popular all over
the world as people look for ways to increase their intake
of soybeans and isoflavones.
They discover tempeh's versatility and delicious taste. Especially
vegetarians and vegans find the structure and protein content
interesting. Tempeh has a firm texture and a nutty mushroom
flavour. Tempeh can be used in different ways. Normally tempeh
is sliced and fried until the surface is crisp and golden
brown or tempeh can be used as ingredient in soups, spreads,
salads and sandwiches.
Make your own tempeh!
It's easy to make tempeh at home at a very low cost. Dehulled
soybeans are soaked overnight, cooked for about 30 min and
mixed with tempeh starter. After 36 to 48 hours incubation
you have delicious fresh tempeh. Tempeh starter contains
spores of Rhizopus oligosporus or Rgizopus oryzae.
Tempeh is healthy!
Tempeh is very nutritive and contains many health promoting
phytochemicals such as isoflavones and soy saponins. Tempeh
fermentation produces natural antibiotic agents but leaves
the desirable soy isoflavones and most of the saponins intact.
Tempeh is a complete protein food that contains all the essential
amino acids. The soy protein and isoflavones have many health
benefits. Isoflavones strengthen bones, help to ease menopause
symptoms, reduce risk of coronary hearth disease and some
cancers. Tempeh maintains all the fiber of the beans and
gains some digestive benefits from the enzymes created during
the fermentation process

Kama Perry
I was always a chubby
kid. I was sick alot when I was little, and not able
to be
very active. By the time I got older, and more healthy,
my inactivity made me
kind of awkward and not very good at sports. I had
also had scoliosis and had
had 2 spinal fusions with being in a body cast for
a year each time. So, my
childhood wasn't very active. I developed a love for
movies, books, quiet
things.
While I was in high school, I did walk alot which helped,
but I was still over
weight. I remember guys saying I had a "prettyface" and
that I should lose
weight. That hurt and made me even more shy and timid than
I already was.
Anways, I continued to be just "overweight" Thru
out my marriage, and pregnancy.
It wasn't till after my divorce and then my 7 year
relationship that ended badly
that I really ballooned. My top weight was 234. I was
so sick, I had sleep
apnea, diabetes, high cholesterol, the works. I couldn't
even walk short
distances without chest pain.
I knew I had to do something about it. One nite, my
daughter and I walked the
short distance and back to Burger King. I didn't think
I would make it back. I
was scared and so was she.
It wasn't until I moved out on my own, and saw what
my mom was going thru, that
I finally said "No more" I do not want to be on
a whole pharmacy list of drugs,
I do not want to have to inject myself with insulin, have
strokes, heart disease
and all that. I don't want to have trouble breathing when
I sleep. So then an
there I start looking for the answer.
I do not beleive in
fad diets. I as
reading alot of Dr Phil's books at the time, and something
he said really stuck
out. I was consciously or not "Choosing" to be
the way I was. And that I could
choose different. I wasn't "doomed" to be
fat. I already had the power to change
it.
So, I began to just use common sense. I cut the fat
and sugars down (sugar out),
white flour out. Lots of whole grains, and fresh fruits
and veggies. Fish,
poultry, very lean meats.
Have I ever slipped? Yes, but I keep on working away, never
stopping.
Also, I have developed a love of exercise, I love feeling
strong, I usually work
out 6 days a week, no less than a half hour of cardio at
the very least.
I am about 15 pounds away from my goal weight of 135. I got
there once, and then
my parents passed away. But I WILL get there again.
This is my story, My passion is to share what I have learned,
and if I can help
EVEN ONE person, then that is why I am here :)
